prairie nights

today, i
walked in a moody, 
mysterious,
monochrome world

of dark grey trees,
bereft of leaves

of branches 
clad in lacy white frost

of rich black earth
carpeted in soft white snow

of expansive prairie skies
cloaked in dove-grey silk

all hidden
behind a veil
of wispy, 
misty, 
pale grey fog

tonight, i
sit in a moody,
